I haven't confirmed in FS19, but in past iterations the forage harvester itself would only have the "chaff" icon, so you wouldn't expect it to have a grass icon.
One possible fix i've heard is: Pipe in and then Pipe out, so that the pipe locks on to the trailer. The regular size pipes on the other harvesters are next to useless for solo grass mowing.
